What does the Top CAT mentor say?

Sony Goyal the top mentor in the MBA CAT world, says, “CAT prep is very much personal. It varies from person to person; every year some students start preparation in 3 months and get 99%ile and some prepare for 1 year and then get 85%ile to 90 %ile.
All the strategy depends on where you currently stand and how much more you need to cover. A person with 7 7 7 in their profile will take 1200 hours to complete the CAT syllabus whereas a person with 9 9 9 in their profile can definitely complete in 800 hours.

The major 3 things to cover is

  • 1. Fundamentals or the concepts must be clear which can take almost around 300 hours, where 150 hours for Quantitative Aptitutde alone and 150 for VARC and DILR both.
  • 2. 300 hours go to previous year papers, where the difficulty level is 2.
  • 3. The last 400 hours cover analyzing the mocks and the sectionals.

So the preparations must be in a strategized manner so that by the month of September you can start the Mocks once completing the fundamentals strong.”
